July 28

Today is the day of egg retrieval and I must admit I am a bit nervous! We had to be at the doctor at 7:30. When we got to the doctor I had to get in a gown and get an IV started. I never have problems with the IV, but it took her 3 times to get it started! Once I was all hooked up, they walked me to the operating room. By this time I am ready to have those eggs out of my body! My belly is so full and sore because my ovaries are the size of oranges! Boy, are they tender. Finally I was given the good drugs. I was under what is called conscious sedation. It is very nice and I hardly remember anything. While I am under they pass a thin needle through my vaginal wall to collect all the eggs from my ovaries. Since I do not have functioning tubes, this is the only way to get to my eggs. They were able to get out 17 eggs!! I was thrilled! Now, it is time for my eggs to be fertilized!! After the surgery, I go home and sleep and wait for the call saying how many of my eggs were fertilized. We finally received the call the next day. It turns out 15 of our eggs were mature and 14 fertilized. That is amazing. In 5 days the eggs will be put back in, so hopefully we have a bunch that make it ! In the meantime, I feel like I am full of water. I can hardly eat because I feel I am going to bust. Apparently, your ovaries and abdomen fill up with fluid and it makes you miserable! Hopefully, this goes away soon! I love my roxy dog!! She is my only baby now. It is so cute that through this whole process she just wants to lay and cuddle with me!!!
